iPhone Handheld !!!

Is the iPhone the next big handheld system? With Final Fantasy 1 %26 2 coming out soon and GTA China Wars out on the iPhone is it worth buying it for gaming???iPhone Handheld !!!

iPhone is definitely NOT worth it just for gaming. If you want a handheld, get a DS or a PSP.

Best portable gaming device, no. Best gaming device that does like a million other things (music, video, all of the apps, etc.)
FF1%262 are totally irrelevant outdated games. Neither has aged well.
The lack of physical media and the option for conventional control schemes severely limits the potential of the iPhone as a serious gaming device. The DS has a touch screen like the iPhone, but the DS also has a traditional d-pad and buttons which greatly expands its usefulness.
i don't think so, the king of handheld is stil.... Nintendo :D
iPhone is very expensive. You should buy iPod Touch, so you can save some money.

Everyone forgets about the accelerometer which is pretty cool for racing games and games like monkey ball

DS isn't much better though.really isn't a single hand-held even out that's remotely impressive.But for all-around-use, Ipod touch.

China town sucks on iphone- i got it on PSP, iphone %26 DS..
I pick it up from time to time for games, but moreso in a time killing fashion. The problem is apple updates their devices too often to compete in the market. They've essentially tagged the ipod as their console, according to ads and publications. I'm not doubting there may be a new ipod/gamepod announcement in the next few days, but the real problem is that alot of apples success comes from the way they update their products--which is quite frequently. Considering the DS came out in '04 and is still going strong, I find it hard to believe that apple can cease to update a piece of hardware for that length of time, let alone even a year.
Well I like it but Im not forsing you guys to like it.I dont even carry my bulky psp with me because all I keep replaying is GTA , Syphon Filter and MOH heroes and I have Gangstar (oh yeah and GTA CTW) , BIA and Sandstorm on my phoneSee the iPhone is like the inbred bastard child of the DS and the Wii with its touch screen and acceleromether
If you have no problem with the touch screen and accelerometer only interface that the iPhone/iTouch feature, then it's absolutely a great handheld to consider.As you can see from some of the earlier replies, not everyone enjoys the lack of physical buttons, or have decided against even trying.I have a DS, PSP, and an iPhone. My iPhone is the only handheld that gets regular use anymore. The number of great games, and the pricing of the AppStore, keeps me with far more to play than I need already. Of course, when I got an iPhone, I didn't get it for gaming, and only after trying out the controls myself did I find them acceptable. If I were interested in buying a new iDevice for gaming, I'd try to play with one first and see how it ''feels'' to you.
