Really hard to say, seeing as preference plays a big role, and many apps have free download periods.I'd take a look at the AppStore's top free downloads list, and if you want to look into things more regularly, try a site like appshopper to keep you up to date on price changes.

I loved to play Tap Tap Revenge 2, which is free. But I can't have the 3rd Tap Tap, due to me not having the 3.0 Upgrade [not planning to buy it until I get a new iPod]
