Why don't the apps work?

My cousin got an iTouch for xmas and when she presses on certain apps it starts to open up but then just goes back to the main screen.I just thought id help her out by asking you wonderful people here at GS if you know what could be wrong with it? :)Why don't the apps work?
Well, they might be installed wrong. Try deleting them then re-downloading? I have to do that with eBuddy every now and again. Why don't the apps work?

I thought you couldn't redownload paid apps again.

What you often have to do to get apps to work on the iPhone and iPod Touch is restart the device by holding the home and sleep buttons until the screen goes black. if you see the red sliding power bar, ignore it and keep holding the buttons. If that doesn't work, re-install the applications, and then try restarting your device. If the app still doesn't work, there is probably a bug with the app itself and it probably wont work with anybody's device.
Same exact thing happened to me. I couldn't figure out a simpler way to fix it than to completely take everything off, restore it, and put everything back on. Needless to say mine works now. There's probably a better way to do it, though.

Not to be off topic, but how do you do that if you deleted the paid app from iTunes as well? (ie from your computer entirely)

Even if you get a download a paid app while its is available free for a limited time, you can then download it for free as often as you'd like again onto the same account.
if the app is one of the system apps, you have to do an update, or a restore... sometimes there are glitches in the iphone os and the only thing you can do is a restore or the phone/touch ''seems'' to be bricked. if you want to try to go farther then that and change the os google modmyi and go to that site... look in the guids and you can pretty much find anything you need to know about the iphone/ or ipod touch.

Have that problem with a couple of apps.OT: If you haven't jailbroken and this problem is happening to more than coulple of apps you might want to think about rebooting the phone to the way it was when new.

no, apple won't have the app in system so they can't send you the backup. ref; OT: If you haven't jailbroken and this problem is happening to more than coulple of apps you might want to think about rebooting the phone to the way it was when new

also, that is called a restore, its an option in itunes
Try a reboot, its the same thing I did when I was having the same issue. It works again now.
I have encountered same problems like that. Maybe you should delete the app, and re-download it. Or maybe you should update your ipod touch software to 3.1
This happened to me a while back...just go to the store and re-download it, it will come up with a box that says something like ''you have already downloaded this, would you like to download it again for free?'' and then select ok...also, did she unplug it while it was syncing? that will have an effect
