wut r the main differnces between the ipod touch 8gb 2nd gen and 3rd gen?diffences between ipods?

Bascially the same as the 2G. 3G 8Gb was made to prevent users from jailbreaking it, which failed to succeed.Only differences are in the 32 and 64 GB with better CPU and stuff.

Though there are Very few apps that don't run on all iDevices. The ones that utilize the better hardware of the newer devices usually scale the graphics back to accomodate older devices.
The new hardware is only in the new 32 and 64 gb models. The 3g 8gb is the same as the 2g one, Apple just market's it as next-gen.

It works with it, but you have to get it separately. The 3G has it by default.

Yeah, and it's not even the right answer. If the OP was asking about the 32 or 64 gb models then it would be, but he asked about the 8gb.

There are 8gb, 32gb and 64gb models in third generation The 8gb is same as 2g 8gb, the 32gb and 64gb has h/w differences.

They replaced it with a 64 gb model, with the iPhone 3gs's new hardware. They upgraded the hardware in the 32gb model as well. For the 8gb model, everything remained the same, except that it comes with OS 3.0 and they called it 3rd generation.
